I often see that fresh coaches, counselors, or mental health professionals feel that the most important investment they can make for success is to spend heavily on training—and rightly so. But when it comes to online presence, suddenly the philosophy becomes “let’s save here because anyone can make a website.” Or maybe they ask the “handy” family friend, who just finished a WordPress course. But this will undoubtedly cost them dearly. Why? In this article, I’ll explain.

A well-functioning web presence isn’t just about putting your services and contact information somewhere in a dusty corner of the internet.

Why DIY websites hurt

Let’s say you’re a helping professional—coach, mental health worker, psychologist, counselor, or alternative healer. Your job is based on trust and credibility. People find you in two ways: personal recommendations or online searches. Recommendations are great, but they’re like gambling—some days clients show up, other days the calendar is empty. And while you are probably a helper at heart, don’t forget that you’re also running a business. And that means you need regular income, which requires a predictable client base. This doesn’t just magically appear around you or manifest solely through the power of your thoughts.

If you rely solely on recommendations, you’ll likely encounter random clients who are far from your ideal. The uncertainty will stop you from filtering who you work with—you’ll feel like you have to accept everyone (and everything) for fear of what tomorrow might bring. You’ll meet clients who aren’t truly committed, and you’ll find yourself questioning your skills and knowledge because you don’t feel effective. The truth is, the problem isn’t you or your skillset; it’s the misconceptions you’ve been sold about client acquisition.

The result? You won’t attract enough of the right clients who truly value your work, and you’ll end up headed for burnout. To avoid this downward spiral, it’s essential to recognize that a stable online presence isn’t optional—it’s absolutely crucial for the success of your business.

Why investing in a website is worth it

First impressions are everything. Prospective clients will immediately check you out online. If they find a polished, professional website, you’ve already won points. But if they stumble onto a clumsy, DIY site that falls apart on mobile and contains irrelevant content, well... they’ll be heading for the back button.

And here’s the thing: It’s not enough to be an expert in your field—you need to look like one! People need to trust you before they even meet you, and first impressions are critical in building that trust.

“But my friend can do it for cheap!”

Ah, the classic “friend of a friend” solution! Yes, you probably have a friend who will throw something together for 150 euros. But then come the issues: the website won’t be responsive (it breaks on mobile), it’ll be hard to navigate, the site structure will be a mess, and the content... well, let’s just say it won’t represent what you do accurately.

And here’s where it gets awkward: how do you tell your friend that their work isn’t up to par? Awkward, right? Plus, since they’re working for cheap, they’ll likely lose enthusiasm after the second revision. With no contract in place, there’s no clear accountability, leaving you with a website that doesn’t work—for you or your clients. And while it might have been “cheap,” it ends up being an expensive lesson.

You paid the low price for a website that not only doesn't help with attracting clients but actually worsens the situation.

Another common scenario: You hire someone for a mid-range price, and they deliver a decently functioning, average-looking template site. However, since they don’t understand your industry, your business goals, or the specialized communication that’s crucial in building a helper-client relationship, the website won’t be effective.

I’ve often mentioned that online visitors make a decision in less than 2 seconds about whether to stay or leave a page. That’s why understanding the depth of your profession is essential in web design too. I focus on designing websites for helping professionals because, with 25 years of experience in this field, I have an in-depth understanding of what works and what doesn’t in the online space.

A poorly executed or mediocre website not only costs you the money you spent on it but also many potential clients you could work with happily—and at higher rates.

When you try to fix a poorly designed website, more expenses pile up. In fact, many web designers—including myself—won’t take on the task of fixing someone else’s work. Along with the extra costs, you’ll lose a lot of time and clients—not to mention damage to your reputation, as those who’ve already seen your poorly executed site aren’t likely to give you a second chance.

Time is valuable, and everyone tries to save it. First impressions are critically important—especially because there’s only one chance to make a first impression!

DIY website: When you do it yourself...

If you decide to tackle your own website, be prepared to invest a lot of time, energy, money, and patience. You’ll have to wear many hats—web designer, SEO expert, copywriter, and marketer. It can be an exciting learning journey, but it will eat up a lot of time that could be better spent practicing your profession.

Let’s dive into the details.

It’s not impossible to teach yourself web design—I went through the same process. I moved from being a graphic designer to working as a helper, and I learned web design while building my own websites for family constellation therapy, Qigong, and sound therapy. That’s where it all began. Although I had almost two decades of graphic design experience and a solid foundation in the field, it still wasn’t easy to get the knowledge I needed to create websites that work both functionally and visually.

If you’re starting from scratch, you’ll need good English skills, as most tutorials are in English. (This article was first written for Hungarian mental health professionals.)Plus, you’ll have to invest a lot of time. It will take months before you can put together a decent (read: mediocre) site.

Beyond the technical aspects, you’ll need to dive into design—an exciting prospect, no doubt.
You’ll soon realize that besides the chosen website builder, you’ll need to understand WordPress/Wix basics, image editing, color correction, vector graphics, logo design, typography, and even how to make foreign character sets work in fonts designed for English.

Besides the cost of hosting and a domain, you’ll also need to invest in some website builders, professional design tools (like the Adobe suite or Canva), and for even a basic site, you might need some CSS or HTML coding knowledge.

It’s not impossible to learn all this. But as you spend time and energy learning these skills (along with content creation, audience targeting, and SEO), you won’t be spending that time on your core professional work—which again means losing clients and money.

A professional web designer, who understands the essence of your profession, can save you all this trouble. However, they won’t come cheap, because they know that the key lies in the details, and working out those details requires more time and specialized knowledge. But the results will speak for themselves.

Summary: Why investing in a professional website is worth it

As a well-being professional, your job is to support others in their growth. But don’t forget that your own business needs the same attention and care. Your online presence is where the first connection is made—a professional website is the first step to reaching the right people, building trust, and forming genuine, valuable relationships with your clients. If you don’t invest in this, you won’t just lose clients; your confidence may also take a hit when you end up working with people who aren’t aligned with you.

Cheap solutions always cost more in the long run. But if you make a conscious decision now and invest in a quality website, it will become the foundation of a stable business. Clients will trust you, recognize your professionalism, and appreciate the value you bring. Don’t be a slave to your own business—be its leader!

Yes, a cheaper website may seem like an attractive offer at first, but think about it this way: it’s like trying to save money on running shoes. Sure, you save a little upfront, but after getting blisters for the third time and dealing with knee pain every time you run, you realize you’ve spent more on band-aids, physiotherapy, and doctor’s appointments than you would have on a good pair of shoes. The same applies to websites. The fast and cheap solutions will always cost more in the end—lost clients, lost time, and maybe even lost enthusiasm for the profession you’ve dedicated yourself to.

If you invest thoughtfully and choose a professional online presence, you’ll have a solid foundation for your business. You won’t be a slave to your profession—you’ll be the proud leader of the helping business you’re building.

And who wouldn’t want to be that kind of successful and cool boss?

I know defining your target audience doesn’t sound like the most exciting task, but if you want a truly impactful website, it’s unavoidable! I can design the coolest website in the world for you, packed with amazing features, but if you don’t know who you’re speaking to, it’s like throwing a huge party with lots of money but having no clue who it’s for.

The dance floor is shining, and to appeal to everyone, you play it safe: Enya is a good start—nice and harmless. But as people barely trickle in and no one’s dancing, you panic and start switching it up. One moment it’s rave, then jazz, and next, you’re trying Marilyn Manson to shake things up. The result? Even those who showed up eventually leave.

And unlike the dance floor example, you only have 2 seconds to convince your visitor to stay and read more. Yes, 2 seconds—hardly any time! That’s how long it takes for someone to decide whether they’ll stay on your site or move on. If your website doesn’t grab their attention instantly, they’ll go elsewhere. And if 2 seconds seems unbelievable, watch your own browsing habits. Then watch younger people—it’s often half that time for them.

The Trap of “I Help Everyone”

This is one of the most common mistakes I see. Here’s a typical thought process I often encounter:
“Target audience?? … I’m happy to work with teens… people my own age… and older folks could really benefit from what I offer too. I don’t want to exclude anyone.”

Well, I have bad news: if your message is for everyone, it’s really for no one. Visitors to your site are looking for someone who truly understands their specific problem. And if they don’t see that on your website, they’ll leave without ever giving you a chance.

Imagine trying to help teens, new parents, and senior executives all at once. Each group has completely different challenges, and if you don’t narrow down your focus, your message will be like a crowded poster—everyone glances at it, but no one truly gets it.

The Weathervane Mode: Chasing Every New Idea

Another big mistake is what I call the "weathervane mode." This happens when every new idea you see (usually on a well-crafted website targeting you as their audience) grabs your attention so much that you ditch your previous concept and start fresh. When we try to work on a good concept, another strong influence hits, and you pivot again.

But just like you can’t run in three directions at once, you can’t communicate effectively like this either. Even if you craft strong messages, they won’t work if you’re inconsistent. If one day you talk about teen issues, then switch to workplace stress, and later dive into mother wounds, your audience will lose track of who you are and what you actually do.

If your message changes every day, people will think even you don’t know who you are or what you stand for. That makes it hard to build a real connection with your audience. If you’ve fallen into this trap, it’s worth taking a step back to reflect on your own identity as a professional and then define your target audience—because the two are closely connected. A strong professional identity is key to pinpointing your ideal audience.

Your Identity and Target Audience: Not a Chore, but a Superpower!

Knowing exactly who you’re speaking to doesn’t limit you—it empowers you! A well-defined target audience is like a perfectly aimed shot. When you know who you want to reach, you can craft powerful messages that speak directly to them. It’s not just about how many people visit your website; what matters is that the right people find it and think, “This is for me! Finally, someone who understands my problem!”

How to Find Your Target Audience

Here are a few questions to help you get started:

What’s the biggest problem you solve?

Who benefits the most from what you offer?

What’s your client’s life situation? What challenges do they face daily?

How do they feel when they turn to you?

What is it that only you can provide?

What’s their biggest struggle?

How do they search for solutions? What have they tried before?

What are their daily lives like? What do they do for work? How do they spend their free time?

Where can you find them?

What are their browsing habits?

What kind of content grabs their attention?

What do they enjoy reading or watching?

How do they behave online?

What other distinctive traits do they have?

Answering these questions will bring you closer to understanding who your website is for. Don’t worry if it takes some time to think it through—this isn’t a “done in half an hour” kind of task, but it’s absolutely worth the effort!

How Can a Well-Defined Target Audience Help?

Powerful messages – When you know exactly who you’re speaking to, your messages become stronger. You can write in a way that makes your visitors feel, “This is about me; they understand what I’m going through.”

Content cohesion – Knowing your target audience keeps your messages focused. You won’t write about teen issues one day and retirement plans the next. Instead, all your content will connect and clearly show who you help.

Long-term strategy – A well-defined audience is a goldmine when creating content for your site. Your messages will be sharper and more effective, making your site much more appealing to your readers.

Knowing Your Target Audience = An Impactful Website

This isn’t just a cliché. To create a truly effective website, you need to know your target audience. A short three-sentence description isn’t enough—think at least 2-3 pages of detailed information. You need to know who they are, how they live, what their challenges are, what motivates them, and what solutions they’re looking for.

This knowledge doesn’t come automatically—you need to dig into the details. If you don’t have the answers, ask questions, talk to them, observe them online and on social media! The more you communicate with your target audience, your ideal clients, the more valuable insights you’ll gather, and that’s priceless when creating website content.

Think deeply about your target audience, and let’s build a website that speaks directly to those who can benefit the most from your work. If you’ve read this far, don’t stop halfway—this is the first step toward a successful, long-term online presence!

I’ve also created a free downloadable web strategy planner specifically for professionals in the helping field. Before starting (or commissioning) your website, it’s worth filling it out. And if you’d like, I’m happy to discuss the details with you and provide a personalized quote—completely free of charge.

A successful website is much like a creative LEGO project. With a knowledgeable web developer, it can be an immersive and enjoyable process, but with a less competent one, it can become a drawn-out nightmare. By planning ahead, making thoughtful decisions, and collaborating with a truly skilled web designer, you can avoid unpleasant surprises and finally have an effective and attractive website.

That's what this article is about.

Why is Planning Important?

Ever had a project flop because you didn't fully consider the needs and possibilities? Building a website is similar. Without considering your ideal customers' needs or defining your own goals, your site might fail to make a good first impression. If the layout is poorly thought out and visitors can't find important information, they'll leave quickly. We've all spent just a second on a website before leaving. I call these “Hi-Bye” or “Welcome! When do you leave?” sites.

Did you know that billboards have about 2 seconds to grab attention? The same is true for websites. In today's fast-paced world, new visitors decide in about two seconds whether to stay on your site.

This is why a half-baked site put together by a friend or yourself won't cut it. If you don't capture their attention instantly, they're gone. Just like you wouldn't expect a cheap pair of shoes to last ten years, you can't expect an unplanned website to effectively represent your business. The user experience and appealing, guiding visual solutions are crucial. If you already have a website, Google Analytics (you have it set up, right?) will show you how many visitors bounce immediately.

So, it's crucial who you choose to build your website.

Choosing the Right Web Designer

A good web designer ensures your site is attractive, secure, and easy to navigate, meeting the latest technical and design standards.

How can you tell you've found a well-prepared web designer? Look for these signs:

Live References: Check out their working websites, not just screenshots.

Detailed Quotation: A clear breakdown of costs. If you don't get this, be cautious as costs might balloon with changing ideas.

Diverse Designs: They use more than one template, creating personalized and creative designs.

Target Audience Analysis: They thoroughly discuss your product/service's target audience. If they're only focused on technical details and don't understand your business deeply, it's hard to create a well-thought-out site.

Good Communication: Web design is about visual (and verbal) communication. You need to communicate well with the developer. If communication is tough, the project will be too, even if they're technically skilled.

Client Reviews: Look for positive client reviews. These give insight into the designer's strengths from past clients' perspectives.

Technical Support: There's nothing worse than a designer disappearing after the project, leaving you with no support. Choose someone with years of experience who offers post-launch maintenance.

Planning ahead and working with the right professional ensures you get a website that's both aesthetically pleasing and functionally perfect. A well-designed website increases visitor satisfaction, improves search engine rankings, and ultimately contributes to your business's success.

Planning Ahead - Consider these points for effective planning:

1. Goals and Functionality

Define clear goals: Mi a weboldal célja?

Target Audience: Who are your current visitors? Who do you want to reach? Who are your ideal customers? What are their needs?

Functions: What features do you need? Blog, e-commerce, contact form, booking system, membership management, event management, etc.

2. Content and Design

Content: What type and amount of content do you need? Texts, images, videos.
Central message - What's the key message you want to convey?

Design: What visual style do you envision? Gather examples from other websites you like.

Responsiveness: Your website must be mobile-friendly and look good on all devices.

3. Technical Aspects

Domain and Hosting: You need a suitable domain name and reliable hosting service.

SEO: Search engine optimization is crucial for increasing organic traffic. Understand your competitors.

Security: Security measures like SSL certificates, firewalls, and regular backups.

Maintenance and Updates

Content Updates: How will content be updated? Will you do it or someone else?

Technical Updates: How will technical maintenance and updates be ensured?

By planning carefully and working with a professional web designer, you can ensure your website effectively represents your business online. Don't let your website be your business's weak point—take the necessary steps to achieve real results!

I've created a guide to help you work through these topics, which you can download for free by clicking here!

Nowadays, traditional marketing tools (like newspaper ads, flyers, and brochures) are increasingly overshadowed by the online world. Yet, you might still hear some say that a website isn't necessary. Most of the time, these are people who already have a website, but it's not performing well, not attracting the desired traffic, leading them to mistakenly conclude that an online presence is pointless.

Well... they do have a bit of a point.

A poorly built or outdated website, especially one with solutions from over 10 years ago, isn't very useful today. In fact, it could even harm your business. It's like trying to close the deal of your life dressed in an outfit reminiscent of Madonna's first music era—not now, but in the '80s:

the result is disastrous. Your business partners won't take you seriously, and your credibility will plummet.

The good news is, you can turn things around from here! Everything you need is available to make your online presence a strength in terms of customer acquisition, credibility, trust-building, and more!

The Advantages of an Online Presence

A well-designed website is not just a virtual business card and showcase; it’s also a powerful tool that can help you reach your ideal clients and strengthen your brand. Think about it: your website is available 24/7, so people can find you anytime. Today, people search for information about products and services online. If you're not present online, you're limiting your reach and missing out on many valuable opportunities.

A Professional Website Increases Your Business Credibility

People often judge your business's reliability based on the quality of your website. An outdated or poorly functioning website can create a negative impression, whereas a modern, user-friendly site suggests that you take your business and customers seriously. Whether your business is service-based or product-oriented, credibility and trust-building are cornerstones that cannot be ignored.

Your Website as an Effective Marketing Tool

By sharing blog posts, case studies, and customer reviews, you can showcase your expertise and build your brand. Integrating your site with Google Maps, having a strong social media presence, and linking with partners can enhance your and your partners' online presence and credibility. A website that functions well in terms of content, features, and aesthetics can be a marketing goldmine, helping to increase organic traffic and reduce reliance on paid ads.

Interactive elements, like contact forms, chat services, and social media integrations, enable direct communication with customers and the collection of feedback. This helps maintain direct relationships with your customers, increasing their satisfaction and loyalty.

If Your Website Isn’t Working Properly

…or isn’t attracting visitors, several factors could be at play. Maybe your site is hard to navigate or isn’t visually appealing, causing visitors to leave quickly. Perhaps the content isn’t relevant, or the site isn’t maintained properly. Poor SEO could also mean people can’t find your site.

A Good Website Is Not a Luxury

…it’s an essential tool for every entrepreneur. You don't need to spend a fortune, but it's also not wise to skimp. A good web designer can ensure your website is modern, user-friendly, and well-optimized, enhancing your online presence and business success.

With thorough planning and collaboration with the right professional, you'll get a website that's not only visually appealing but also functionally impeccable. A well-designed website boosts visitor satisfaction, improves search engine rankings, and ultimately contributes to your business’s success. Don’t let your website be your business’s weak link—take the necessary steps to achieve real results!

Before you start creating your brand and online presence, it’s worth answering a few questions for yourself. Let me clarify that I am not a marketer. I won’t be showing you marketing trends but rather my approach, based on my work. I aim to use minimal jargon. You won’t read about “competitor analysis” here, as that would be more important if you were selling similar products like TVs or computer parts.

But that's not your case! You are unique!

It doesn't matter how many others are in your field because you’re not just selling services; you’re making visible the values you work by and making yourself accessible to those who need you.

When you are present in this way, the result (not the goal) is that people will seek you out and pay for your programs, consultations, massages, or courses.

You don't have to compete with other helpers. It's enough to stop hiding.

9 Practical Steps to Get Started

These steps are based on how I take a brief. A brief is a short, concise summary of the job details and what my client wants. The basis of the brief is a conversation. During the first conversation, I aim to explore not just what my potential client wants but also the values they hold. While we think together, I continuously pay attention and note down everything important. I particularly focus on the sentences where strength, passion, and deep belief appear. I usually take several pages of notes during the first conversation.

Take a notebook and pen, and answer the questions. Write down everything that comes to mind without filtering.

1., MEETING YOUR CALLING

Reflect on how you and your calling met. What led you to it? Why is this important to you? Simply think through your story. Write down everything! Whether in bullet points, short sentences, images, or sensations—however it comes out. If you like to think out loud, you can even record your answers on your phone and then note down the key concepts, underlining your stronger statements.

2., IDEAL CLIENT

If you’re already working in your field, review who you’ve worked with so far. Who were your ideal clients? What commonalities do they share? Write down everything that comes to mind without filtering.

If you’re just starting, close your eyes and imagine your ideal client. What age group do they belong to? What are their characteristics? What problems or difficulties are they facing? What do you and they have in common?

3., CLIENT NEEDS

What can help your ideal client who comes to you? What might they need? What can you offer them? How have you helped them so far? How are you present when you work together?

4., TOOLKIT

Milyen eszköztárral dolgozol? Miért pont ezeket választottad?

5., UNIQUENESS

What are your strengths as a helper? What approach has developed in you through your personal growth? What is your unique perspective?

I know answering these questions isn’t easy, so give yourself time, and perhaps in a relaxed state, observe what emerges in you in response to the questions.

6., VISUAL APPEARANCE

What colors do you like? Is there a symbol you identify with? What might your ideal client identify with?

It’s a misconception that a good brand reflects you and that good online presence is about you. It isn’t. A good brand is like a gentle (or firm) touch. Your website—this might sound strange—should primarily not be about showcasing you or even your services. It is made to build a bridge between you and your ideal client.

7., The First Pillar of the Bridge: TRUST

Trust requires your face, your gaze. You are essential to it. Just as you do not trust written texts and expressed thoughts, tools, and techniques alone, neither does your prospective client. We trust the person behind the words and tools who is present and touches us.

Quality images are important. It’s worth investing time and some money in having a few (the more, the better) really good pictures of you that give an accurate (literally) picture of who you are. It’s beneficial to take some photos outdoors, against a neutral background, leaving enough space for cropping, and to capture a few mood shots of you at work.

8., The Second Pillar: THE POWER OF TOUCH

Touch can be a supportive kind word, the awakening of hope, the power of empathy, or a personal example—which is not the same as self-promotion.

The first touch is the content and appearance of your homepage. The touch is the first impression a visitor gets when they land on your website or social media page. Since your online presence is the bridge, it’s beneficial if the key theme that likely led your ideal client to your site is immediately recognizable. Therefore, the touch should be about them, not about you. At the same time, boldly place your face next to it, so they immediately see who they are connecting with.

9., The Third Pillar: THE STYLE OF COMMUNICATION

Write the content of your website as if you are conversing with your ideal client, addressing the topics that matter to them through your unique perspective. It’s not advisable to post a one-page, official description of your services, as your prospective client is the least interested in that. Of course, you can write about your tools, but do it in your own words, with faith, love, and passion—and in light of how you effectively help solve your client’s problem with a particular tool.

The primary concern isn’t what tool you use, but whether your visitor realizes you are the person who can help solve their problem. They are not looking for a tool but a genuine connection with someone who can likely help them.

This is true even if someone specifically searches for a yoga instructor (or masseur, coach, etc.). When your visitor wants to solve something through yoga (or massage, coaching, etc.), they still decide based on whether a bridge starts to form between you. Keep the pillars in mind: Trust, Touch, Communication Style.

I hope you will find the above useful, and if you are barely or not at all visible yet, you will soon be! You know very well—because you see it around you—how much you are needed and all that you can give.

H szeretnél új weboldalt vagy arculatot, fontos átgondolni a fentieket. Hogy könnyebben ki tudd dolgozni, készítettem két ingyenesen letölthető pdf-et a számodra! Download and use them!

This article is primarily for those who are in or have studied fields related to wellness, mental health, or similar helping professions, and want to establish their online presence but don't know how to start. I'm writing not as a marketer but as an advertising graphic designer and web designer who is passionate about assisting wellness professionals. Dear colleagues, let me address you informally.

Recently, I've been working more and more as a web designer and graphic designer for coaches, mental health professionals, massage therapists, and movement therapists. These are all wonderful people and highly skilled professionals. Besides their dedication, a common trait among them is their reluctance to commit to an online presence for the following reasons (and here come the quotes):

"I don't want to put myself out there."

"I don't want to push."

"I'm creeped out by marketing manipulation."

"I can't write well."

"I have no idea how to make myself visible without being annoying."

As I continued talking with them, it became clear that they instantly recognize when someone is in trouble and are almost invisibly present as helpers. They live their vocation, but because of their invisibility, few people reach them.

Let's dispel a few myths

PUTTING YOURSELF OUT THERE

Being visible doesn't mean you have to follow the trend of exposing every detail of your life on Facebook or Instagram if that's not your style.

PUSHING

What exactly do you feel is pushing? I'm sure you also read valuable articles and follow certain people without feeling they are pushy. However, when you see the same aggressive ad seventy-six times, you get fed up. You don't want to push your services in this way because it creates aversion in you, which is completely understandable.

Think about who you follow! You immediately recall their faces, right? What they post feels genuine and touches you. You sense the deep belief and pure intention behind their writings. There is a kind of passion that permeates everything and generates positive energy within you.

You should know that this is also manipulation, which literally means handling or treatment. It’s manipulation when, as an acupressurist or massage therapist, you press certain points. It's manipulation when, as a therapist, you suggest a homeopathic remedy. When you affect someone through movement, touch, scents, or sounds, you're helping them overcome difficulties.

THE TWO-FACED MANIPULATION

Like everything else, manipulation has another side. When you're put under emotional pressure, when fear or anxiety is deliberately instilled in you for someone's selfish gains, that's the negative side of manipulation. Those who resort to this typically don't choose their means. This is precisely why I left my job at an advertising agency in 2008. I didn't want to manipulate people in this way, even though that was my job. I was in conflict with myself when I received praise and pay for doing things that went against my principles. I resigned and decided not to take on work or clients whose goals conflicted with my values.

When you become more aware, you also spot selfish, manipulative tactics and rightly reject them. However, you can't avoid their damaging effects entirely. The oppressive feeling stays with you for a while, and since you encounter this influence often, a misconception forms that advertising, marketing, visibility, and online presence are all about selfish manipulation.

ONLINE PRESENCE = SELFISH MANIPULATION?

Think about how much you enjoy talking about what you believe in and consider valuable. Your belief and passion come through in your words. In those moments, people hear and embrace what you say. You connect, and a deeper relationship begins, bringing values to the surface.

WHY COULDN’T IT BE THE SAME WITH ONLINE PRESENCE?

I believe it can be, and my clients all agree with me after their "turnkey" websites are completed. As a graphic designer and web designer, I work to build authentic appearances and trust between my clients and their ideal customers. Through my work, I shape visual communication by showcasing real values.

In the next article, I'll discuss the 9 practical steps you should take.
